Dell Compellent Announces Storage Center 6.0

Part of the Dell Fluid Data architecture, Dell Compellent Storage Center is designed to actively manage and move data in a virtual pool of storage, regardless of the size and type of block, file or drive. Enterprises can simplify management, improve performance for critical applications, and reduce complexity and costs.

For over eight years, Dell Compellent has helped customers of all sizes lower their total cost of storage by up to 80% through automated storage tiering. Now, the 64-bit architecture of Storage Center 6.0 takes that even further with an additional total cost of ownership savings of up to 13% possible for large enterprises that require greater than 75TB in total capacity. Storage Center 6.0 can extend resiliency with support for CommVault snapshot-based protection and Live Volume, which can allow you to automatically migrate storage to follow virtualized server movement, optimize performance and eliminate downtime in virtual environments.

Dell Compellent VMware vSphere® Storage APIs for Array Integration – Full copy offload and hardware-assisted locking features enhance existing support for block zeroing. Delegating these storage-related tasks to Dell Compellent SANs can enable quick deployment of virtual machines, free up network and host compute resources and improve storage performance for data volumes shared by multiple virtual machines.Dell Compellent OEM Support for Site Recovery Manager 5 (SRM 5) – The Dell Compellent Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) for SRM 5 supports new SRM features such as automated failback from a disaster and new work flows for planned migration and downtime.Dell Compellent vSphere 5 Plug-In with the Enterprise Manager-vSphere Integration – Allows VMware users to manage Compellent virtualized pools of storage resources from the VMware vSphere 5 client, including provisioning, expanding, replicating and configuring storage.
